Snow shower on Mount Lofty summit on 10th August 2008.

Text, videos and photos by Dr. Phil Bagust.

On the morning of 10th August 2008 I was keeping a close eye on the Mount Lofty summit automatic weather station temperature readings, and on the weather radar and the sky. With the summit temperature below 2 degrees and with an incoming low-topped coldie (cumulonimbus shower cloud) I popped up to Lofty and bullseyed a 15 minute snowshower! Big fat flakes. It was a marginal thing, but it was snowing above about 600m, and settling near the summit. Plus I saw a bandicoot! The summit was nearly deserted. Below are two videos I took on the south side of the Mount Lofty summit during the snow shower around 810am. and several still images taken in the same snow shower.
