1954 snowfalls reported in The Advertiser newspaper (source Trove).

Below is the only report of snow in South Australia I found in a search of The Advertiser on Trove from 1st April to 1st December 1954.

Mt. Bryan Covered With Snow
MT. BRYAN, July 8.
Mount Bryan was covered with snow at the week-end.

{This would presumably be sometime on the weekend of 3rd-4th July and I didn't find any more references to snow when I searched all SA nespapers on Trove around that weekend - Miles}.

In The Advertiser published on Monday 5th July there's a Bureau weather map which if I interpret the date correctly is dated 4 7 54 in the top right hand corner of the map. It shows a low pressure system centred near Mt Gambier and a high pressure system centred near Albany. That would be consistent with a cold airstream from the Southern Ocean over southern South Australia on Sunday 4th. Below is a screentake of the map. Source:

Below: In The Advertiser published on Tuesday 6th July there's a Bureau weather map which if I interpret the date correctly is dated 5-7-54 in the bottom right hand corner of the map.

In the News there's a weather map with a date which looks like 5th to me, and an issue-date not clearly legible but looks like 300am CST - it's here.
